Former UFC light heavyweight title contender Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson has died at the age of 38.

Multiple reports and social media warriors were the ones who broke the news.

Johnson fought for the UFC at both welterweight and light heavyweight, but made his name at 205 pounds with devastating knockout power. Twice he fought for the title, but did not succeed.

After several years away from the scene, he returned to MMA in 2021 and defeated Jose Augusto via 2nd round knockout at Bellator 258. He was scheduled to take on the Bellator Light Heavyweight Grand Prix starting with champion Vadim Nemkov , but withdrew due to an undisclosed illness.

After the withdrawal, Johnson posted a message on social media that gave very few details, but hinted that he was facing a scary battle with illness.

β€œI really wish I could go into detail about how sick I really am. Just know I need as many prayers as possible and I will see you in 2022 God willing….

I have never been so afraid of anything in my life, but I stayed strong with the support of friends and family.’

Fighters, friends and opponents, took to social media to send condolences and talk about the tragic news.

There is no official information on the cause of death as of this post.
