The UFC has begun wrapping up its first quarter of events in 2023, and the promotion’s March 11 date already has a headliner.

Anthony Smith (36-17) and Jamahal Hill (11-1, 1NC) are expected to headline the Fight Night card, which has yet to have an official location or venue announced. MMA Island was the first to report news of the bout, while MMA Fighting broke the date.

Smith will look to bounce back from a loss to Magomed Ankalaev, a fight in which he suffered an early leg injury. Ankalaev was recently announced to be in a short-notice title fight at the top of next month’s UFC 282 card, while Smith snapped a three-fight winning streak following their meeting.

Before Ankalaev’s setback, Smith defeated Jimmy Krute, Devin Clark and Ryan Spann, securing finishes on all three occasions.

Jamahal Hill has won his last three fights, most recently securing a fourth round TKO finish against the always tough Thiago Santos. Before the match with Santos, Hill stopped Johnnie Walker and Jimmy Krut, both by knockout.

Hill has only one loss, a TKO loss to Paul Craig, during which “Sweet Dreams” suffered a memorable (and unpleasant) hand injury.

The March 11, 2023 UFC Fight Night card has another bout announced for it, as Tyson Nam and Bruno Silva are expected to square off at flyweight on that date.
