Benny McCarthy’s agent Rob Moore has shed light on rumors linking the former Bafana Bafana striker with head coaching jobs at Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
REVEALED: How Benny McCarthy ended up at Manchester United
McCarthy was heavily linked with the Soweto giants after parting ways with AmaZulu in March, but neither move materialised. The Chiefs and Pirates have since named Arthur Zwane and Jose Rivero as head coaches, respectively
However, his agent Moore says there were never any talks between McCarthy and Soweto’s rivals about a possible move.
“Benny has not applied for any job at either Chiefs or Pirates in recent months, there have never been any discussions between us and the two clubs,” Moore told SAFM’s Thabiso Mosia this week.
“We had another club in the DStv Premiership who wanted to acquire his services and I won’t name the club but we would never consider it because we always felt now was the right time to move overseas,” he added.
McCarthy was confirmed as Manchester United’s first team manager last weekend.
