Fresh off a huge win that left him with a huge loss, middleweight Gregory Rodriguez has his next assignment.
“Robocop” Rodriguez (13-4) will face Brad Tavares (19-7) at UFC 283 on January 21, 2023. News of the booking was first reported by Super Lutas; Rodriguez would later confirm the match on social media.

Less than two weeks ago, Rodrigues earned both the win and a Fight of the Night bonus for his performance against Chidi Njokuani at UFC Vegas 60. The win improved the 30-year-old’s UFC record to 4-1, with that lone loss coming to split judgment against Armen Petrosyan.
A former LFA middleweight champion, Rodrigues has three post-fight bonuses in five fights and three stoppages in his four UFC victories. Now living in Florida, he will return to fight in Brazil for the first time since March 2018.
Hawaii’s Tavares is 2-2 in his last four fights, although he is coming off a loss to South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis. Tavares previously had wins over Omari Akhmedov and Antonio Carlos Jr.
UFC 283 will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on January 21, 2023 at the Jeunesse Arena. No main event has been officially announced for the card. The following matches have been reported for the date so far:
- Mounir Lazzez vs. Gabriel Bonfim
- Josiane Nunes vs. Zarah Fairn Dos Santos
- Gregory Rodriguez vs. Brad Tavares
