“The Problem Child” has for the past year plus chosen to be a problem for mixed martial artists trying their hand at boxing.
Finding his niche by fighting his best fighters who switched the sport for one last payday, Jake Paul made a small fortune fighting foes who had no business sharing the ring with him. Ben Askren, arguably the worst striker to ever hold a major MMA title, entered the fight following hip surgery. Tyron Woodley was past his expiration date and still gave Paul problems in their first fight; the second fight, well, Paul just caught an opponent he’d already beaten once.
Despite the deafening chorus of “box now boxer” (and Paul, to his credit, tried by booking a bout with Tommy Fury), 47-year-old Anderson Silva is who Paul had to face Saturday night in Glendale, AZ .
At least this time he was fighting someone closer to his size. However, the age difference remains evident, even though Silva has shown solid results in the ring since leaving MMA in 2020.
Will Anderson Silva be the man to finally put the ‘Problem Child’ in a timeout? We’ll find out on Saturday. Full results from the event are available below. The card is available via Showtime PPV and Fite.tv internationally. A live stream of the preliminary action is also available below.
