What a milestone!
A Montgomery County woman recently welcomed her 100th grandchild.
NBC 10 Philadelphia reports how Lafayette Hill resident Marguerite Kohler recently welcomed a brand new great-grandchild.
The baby boy, who just made it the 100th grandchild after arriving a week past his due date, was born to one of Koller’s granddaughters, who tells the story of how her family got so big.
“She was married to my grandfather right before World War II in 1942,” granddaughter Christine Balster told the news station. “They were happily married for 66 years. They started a business in Rockborough.
“[They had] 11 children, 56 grandchildren.”
The same NBC 10 Philadelphia article goes on to claim that if you account for other family members, such as cousins, the Kohler family total reaches 167, leading to big celebrations when they get together for holidays and special events.
“And I was going to the monastery,” Kohler says. “They accepted me!”
As fate would have it, Kohler’s 100th grandchild arrived just before she turned 100 herself.
